To all Fire and Iron MC Members;
Hi to all. I am Scott “Scooter” McDuffy, President, Station 144 Massachusetts. As you know, Station 144 was selected to host the 2010 National Fire & Iron Rally. We are honored to do this for our brothers and sisters. We have selected Plymouth Ma. (America’s Hometown) as the town in which we will have the rally. It will be held June10th – June 13th 2010. This is the first weekend of Laconia Bike Week (June 12-20 2010) for those who want to attend that event after our rally.
Those of you that have attended the previous two rallies know the hard work and commitment that goes into putting on such an event. Both station 56 and station 18 did a great job for us and we intend on doing the same for you in 2010.
My plan is to have the biggest, most eventful, most enjoyable and all around kick ass rally to date. I have asked each Station in Region 6 for their input and suggestions. The more ideas the better. We at station 144 value their input and are truly thankful for their help and suggestions. Some stations are also pitching in during the rally to help make it a great time. Thanks. We have gathered pages of ideas to keep us all entertained and happy during the rally. Over the next few months, you will be receiving several e-mails for me including a registration form, a daily itinerary and a member questioner to help us better plan for the rally. Our goal is to keep the event as inexpensive as possible, but we will not compromise on accommodations, entertainment and daily activities, etc. We will have a fun filled and classy rally for sure.
There will be an early arrival get together on June 9th in the evening. (people will be around all day on Wed. to greet any arrivals and help them get settled). Thursday there will be several day activities planned. (scenic rides and rides to particular destinations) with the Official Meet N Greet on Thursday evening with live entertainment to follow. Friday, there will be more activities planned for the day, and the early evening you will be on your own for dinner. A chance to get out and experience some of the great restaurants very close by. Later Friday evening, we will do again what we do best, gather up and party with live entertainment. During a presidents meeting Sat. morning, there will be a short scenic ride for other members to enjoy. Also on Saturday, Kilts N’ Colors Day, we will be having a Fire and Iron cook out (or authentic Cape Cod Clambake) during the afternoon and early evening. Again, Sat. night, more party with live entertainment. Sunday we are planning an end of rally event with a breakfast. If none of theses things gets your motor running, there are hundreds of things right around downtown Plymouth you can do on you own. You will not be bored during this rally. When the itinerary is finished, it will lay out all the activities so you can plan far ahead.
Let me get to the real important part right now. We have selected The Governor Bradford Inn, on the waterfront as the host hotel. I have negotiated a terrific rate. They have both harbor view and non harbor view rooms. This hotel ir right on Plymouth Harbor and across the street from The Mayflower and Plymouth Rock. A great location. There is one other hotel within walking distance from the host hotel, but it is about twice the price. Several others are 2 -6 miles away. We have also selected Pinewood Lodge as the preferred and closest (4 miles) campground. You should mention Fire and Iron when making reservations at both places.
I want to ask those who will be staying in the hotel to make your reservations now. Plymouth is a very popular vacation spot. I have asked the hotel to hold all the rooms until the end of this summer. Too date about 1/3 of the hotel is booked with Fire and Iron members only. I want to book the entire hotel ASAP. It would be great if we had the entire place. There cancelation policy is 24 hrs. prior to arrival. Please book now. You can cancel later if something comes up and you can not attend. It costs you nothing.
The hotel phone is: 8000 332-1620 Their website is: www.govenorbradford.com Their rates are: Harbor view $99.00 all taxes and fees included Non Harbor view $89.00 all taxes and fees included
Station 144 is developing a link on our web site that will have all the information you could need for the rally. Right now it is a work in progress.
Our website is: www.fireandironstation144.com or you can call me at:508 922-3146 We have about one year before this kicks off. Rest assured, we will be putting together a great rally for everyone to enjoy. You will be hearing from me again soon. Thanks RIDE HARDRIDE SAFEScooter President, Station 144
